PostSubject: Public Hazing... a semi-acceptable form of social bullying ? I   Wed 16 Dec 2009, 11:04 am

I recently started watching a load of episodes of "What would YOU do ?", a rather snazzy little show which is made by ABCNews.

It covers the realm of morality, and uses candid camera techniques to conduct a selection of interesting and intriguing social experiments to investigate how people will choose to behave when faced - or even confronted - with some kind of morally dubious (or morally alarming) situation... and often focuses on teh disparity between peoples' claimed/perceived beliefs (I am such a nice person) , and how they clearlt are shown to actually behave in a real-life situation.

This blog, will be on the subject of hazing.... a crazy notion which I find almost unfathomable.... that in all these different "places of higher learning" this appears to be a situation in America which appears to prevale against the efforts to stamp it out...

Just check out these crazy videos -

(1) Frat Hazing -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wcsj_Z8Zyl0

(2) Sorority Hazing -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tys1veudsGU

It's just incredible, huh... ?
How some people will behave.... with public folks, some of them even joining in to humiliate disadvantaged people who they don't even know

I find it especially tragic that there were guys in the second video who saw the whole event as entertaining, rather than upsetting at all, because of the skimpily dressed young ladies, and the unique opportunity to witness a public exhibition of girls being nasty.... not in a scary way though, just among themselves you know... like that means it's no big deal *snort....

Anyway, I really like this show.
