For those who are happily oblivious of who Roy Chubby Brown is, he's an english "comedian".

Please peruse a brief introduction, of this popular entertainer -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_%27Chubby%27_Brown

This is his astonishingly clever 'Christmas meledy' -

aka. "Jingle Bollocks"

And also, a little clip of him talking about the subject of Political Correctness.

Youtube seems to be packed with clips of this guy, so feel free to dip in !

So the thing is, I live on a tiny island farming community.
Every time some famous person considers coming here, the main concern is how popular they might be... because even if they're fairly guaranteed to have many supporters among the islanders, and thus a good turn-out, there just honestly aren't that many people around who're still young enough to go out in the first place.... so a "good turn-out" here is usually small compared to one held further south in the UK.

Ol' Chubbs however, has opted to deliberately come out of his way and put on a show for the Orkney populace ( ! ) how exciting !!!!! Wow ! etc ! I looked at his official website (smirk) yes. He has a website, and everything -
http://www.chubbybrown.biz/

He's putting on shows right at the bottom of england both before and after coming to Orkney, so he's clearly expecting a great turn-out.

The thing is.... this being here and a farming comminity and all Wink there most likely WILL be loads of people who like this kind of bollocks, and who'd pay money to see this pillock prancing about and swearing.

It all seems bizarre to me Smile that's for sure....
What do y'all make of him ?

Wow, it's like Benny Hill came back from the dead and totally lost the nuance to his raunchiness.

I ran across this while clicking around:
"In India, Adult humor in particular is known as "non veg humor" or "non veg jokes", in contrast to "veg humor" which is more acceptable in company of family. The use of the term "non veg" is a reference to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dietary preferences in India."

Oh, cool... I didn't know that....

So the're reckoning that entertaining oneself with Blue Comedy is morally comparable to entertaining oneself with the consumption of flesh.... ie, both not being particularly "family friendly"... ?

Smile That's interesting.

While reading the Wikipedia entry about him, I also noticed this...

One of the rituals of his shows is that they always start with the crowd shouting "You fat bastard!" repeatedly, to which he dances. He then approaches the microphone and says "Fuck off!" This heckling occasionally continues during his act. One example is from "Standing Room Only": Brown is playing the piano when an audience member shouts something along the lines of "fat bastard", to which he replies "Fuck off, daft arse!"

[...]

Brown is married to Helen, his third wife, with children and has homes in Middlesbrough and Lincolnshire. In 2003 he was fined £200 in Blackpool for assaulting a fan who had sworn at him; of the incident, Brown said "I have traditional values and I wanted the man to stop swearing in front of women and children who were on the pier."

Shocked .... and so he beat the guy up, in order to get him to stop doing it.... also in front of the aforementioned women and children, who were on the pier... !?

Wouldn't a wholesome upstanding family gentleman maybe instead have found a fine officer of the law, and said something along the lines of :
"Why, hello there fine officer of the law. I am very offended by a loud gentleman over there, who was swearing at me. It wasn;t only that he was swearing at me you understand, but think of the women and children ! I'm sure that someone with your official capacity could maybe have a word with the chap perhaps, just to let him know that we would like him to be less verbally abrasive to the tender ears of women and children."

... rather than , you know, just scuttling over and beating the crap out of him instead ?

... and anyway, his routines are so full of swearing (frequently between himself and the audience) that this sort of response seems really odd, in the first place. Razz

Heh. Actually I've been to Blackpool. There weren't any policemen at all anywhere to be seen when I was there. And, a group of drunken chavs tried to start a fight with me and the people I was with. They used the pretext that one guy had a shirt on that said 'cow power'. They broke a bottle of some kind of liquer and the flying glass almost landed on a couple of the women we were with.

There was about... say 8 of them and 6 of us but they were all men and we were just three men. Not that taking that into account had much to do with our decision to just get the heck out of there. Doing that what was just obvious common sense.

Anyway a bit of swearing can manage to be funny. I think of South Park that has a ton of swearing. It's kind of funny in that it's little cartoon character children. This guy though seems to really be overkill.
